It's not a matter of being RIGHT, it's a matter of keeping users in line.
You don't hold a civil conversation by telling the person you're talking with to 'fuck off', and 'fuck you'.
Why do people take other people's punishment personally?
It's not about who the mods are or what they do or whom they agree/disagree with.
The post made by that particular user implied that there were NO people who 'didn't support the troops' and that 'Supporting the troops' was rhetoric to distract from errors committed and bad policy. That's complete and utter bullshit. Sure, it's a Ron Paul quote, and it's not even in any context (which would change how I view it), but his presentation of the quote without any input on it implies support for it.
The biggest problem is that that user couldn't handle being argued with, and mouthed off unnecessarily.
Remember, this place isn't about politics, it's about cars. If it means we have to close/delete/forbid political threads, so be it. We have an OT forum for people to discuss stuff other than the 240sx and Z, but it's an extended kindness, and not something we HAVE to do.
Also - it's within the administration staff's discretion what threads should be locked or remain open, and these decisions are not subject to second-guessing or question, except within the Zilvia.net staff. Users may air concerns within the Forum Suggestions and Technical Support forum, but using profanity and making accusations is the wrong way to go about it.
