Brembo blanks do the same thing as Carquest or similar OE replacment. It's a rotor.
I've used both Brembo blanks with cheap pads and cheap blanks with Hawk street pads. I'll take the former any day.
It's not about wear and longevity for me but performance. The cheap blanks/Hawk combo just didn't bite quite how I'd like them to, glossed pretty soon and gave me a nasty pedal feel. Not linear as with the Brembos.
Did the same with my AE92 trying to save money - cheap rotors and pads, came to ~$120 for all the parts - and again, brakes feel like crap. The old adage you get what you pay for comes to mind.
