Some people go for looks before performance.  If you think about it....its actually cheaper compared to mods.  Also if you decide to give up on your car and sell it, its a whole easier to sell with a stock engine and a badass exterior/interior.

But basically its personal preference....it's their car so they can do whatever they want to it.

Take yourself for example.....
