Take the fender off, there's a triangular piece of sheetmetal that sits at the joint between the apron and the Apillar. Cut it out completely, now you have room to pull the harness further back towards the firewall without stretching it up too much, increasing tire clearance considerably at the back edge. You'll see what I mean when you get into it.
