my s14 did the same thing, the pedal feel was horrible and it wouldn't come back all the way. So I also made it a habit of pulling the pedal back with my toe.
I inspected my master and slave (was fine), then readjusted the play in my pedal, removed the damper box, installed a braided SS clutch line, bled the entire system and everything was smooth again with no pedal free play. hope that helps...
