Adam Hutchinson runs a built SOHC race motor in Canada, ~200hp at 4psi and that is just getting started (watch for big numbers from this car). One of they guys at HMP motorsports (Matt I believe) runs a bolt on kit with a custom manifold that HMP offers, and put I believe 190hp down on a dyno. The SOHC does have potential, but it requires you roll up your sleeves to extract the power. It can also be fairly cheap to get the power out of as well. A Z18ET manny bolts on the SOHC head with port matching, and the flange fits a T3, which wouldn’t be hard to find in a salvage yard. You could do a low boost system with out the I/C and see about 200 or so at the wheels, which as about all the bottom end can handle. Get an FMU so you won't go lean, and the only other thing you would need is a BOV. Even with all of the "oh S@^#"s I doubt it would run you more than $2000 do have ~200hp.
