I'd do what ayuaddict said buy a car from the southern states instead, they're in much better shape than here. Also in BC and alberta you can find some that are almost perfect, I almost bought one when I was there at one point but I needed something else... (I sooo should have bought it though...)
and then you wont have to worry about the steering conversion...
