Also, some replica makers make some pretty good changes to the original design. Take Rotary Extreme for example. They were selling a 99 spec front end, without the license plate holder on the front bumper! It was so much cleaner looking, but it was just a slightly modified replica of an OEM Mazda front bumper on the 99 specs. Or a friend of mine made a copy of the STi GT style wing that was availible in Japan only, except he made it out of carbon fiber and was selling em for around $200 a pop. Or how about random fiberglass hoods shops make in different color weave of carbon fiber.
They're all knock offs. Are they any better or worse than what you're describing?

This is EXACTLY the excuse that the copy companies make... "ohhh we changed it 20%, so it isn't the same"
Come on, get real.
These companies shouldn't get support because they take the original product and COPY it. All of the time and work and money put into creating the original design is stolen. It is quite simple to understand.
Simply removing a license plate holder is a pretty stupid excuse.
