plasma has been confirmed dead as of this month BTW
Not a huge fan of the A3k or the w3k line up...
I would say Sony's XBR4, and just disable the 120hz... that tech is just not there yet in my opinion... its a hit and miss depending on what your watching.
if you want the BEST color and gray/black scale for a LCD tv... I would go for a Samsung's 81F or even the 71F... 81F has the LED back lighting, but extremely expensive since its one of the first in the market that has this. 71F is the same as the 81F minus the LED back lighting.
These models I speak of you probably do not see at Best buy or circuit city... find like an ultimate electronics or some other high end electronics store... they will most likely have one for you to do a comparison.
DLP/Rear projection.. idk if you have an entertainment cabinet that you want to keep then I can see why you would look into one.
Side Note:
If you want cheap, thin thin (like an inch), 1080p, go with the Sharp D64's. If you read some of the "expert" reviews they may complain of uneven lines aka banding... but most of the recent ones out *aka new revision* most people have not seen any of this issue. 2500 for a 52" sounds like a pretty cheap price for one... even the 46" model one (considered the bare minimum size to be able to enjoy 1080p) can be found for sale as cheap as 1700! (@newegg)
Compared to some of the others for sale by sony and samsung from around 3k and beyond... fairly respectable price....
...
especially when sony has worked out an agreement to use sharp's manufacturing facility to help with their own production....(why? sharp has build at the moment the worlds largest LCD manufacturing plant)
