no but if you get any kind of whine then your ring and pinion lash could be off. actually , back in the day when I blew up my 510 R160 differential it made a violent clunking and bangin before it came apart. It was due to bearings going bad. I also was running a 150 hp L16 with sidedraft weber and and delong cam.
