Oh shit, somehow i thought this thread got only one response and never looked at it till now!! Well, it's for an s14 sr20det, sorry if i wasn't clear about that.
I already ordered intake piping to accomodate the MAF just before the throttle body (vertically, starting just above the battery tray). Without measuring, it probably has 8"+ of straight pipe before it, an immediate 90-degree bend after it, and 14" or so total piping before the throttle body.
If i run it like this, is there any chance of damaging anything? The only 2 possibilities i can think of are if the MAF will be damaged by the blow-thru setup, or if it may somehow cause the engine to run lean. Are either of these possible? If it's safe, at this point i'd just figure nothing to lose, i can at least give it a try. What do you guys think?
