OK. Seeing as you're dead set on this, the stock fuel lines run under the car, on the passenger side. See if you can't fab some brackets for larger fuel lines, and follow their lead.
Now.. back to your math.
Dunno how much the tank weighs, but they hold 17.2 gallons. And each gallon of gas is not 10 pounds. Gasoline has a specific gravity of .805, so each gallon weighs 6.44 pounds. That's 110.8 pounds of fuel in a full tank. So, you can spend the $600 that someone paid for a tank that perfectly fits into the spare tire well and save a little weight on the tank, or you can just get less gas in your tank.
