just to resurrect a month old post...just finished doing over the hatch..it was white...some fucker broke it a couple months ago and a white one was the only one i could find...

its primered....black undercoat so the red will match properly..then red coat..then lots of clear...constant wet sanding and washing all th way through.. 600 grit 800 grit 2000 grit then rubbing compound after the last wet sand..wouldve been so much easier if i had a damn hand buffer...

just finished a while ago..with some more buffing, a wash a wax and polish it will be near perfect... i stopped buffing actually because it was now getting shinier than my real paint...so im not gonna use polishing compound, which will only make the real paint look worse than this.







couldn't get shots to show well enough how nice it is..even the flakes in the cherry red are showing... there are a couple spots that i can see that i doint get down enough with the 2000 grit paper..but for a first try with this procedure im pleased..beats having a white hatch...
