my personal opinion is that the greatest thing about the cartoon is 1) the mach 5 itself 2) the insane races and the ungodly distances and obstacles. the movie looks cheesy x8 but thats probably the only way to convey the world of speedracer in live action since it would essentially be fast & the furious without the way out there races and stuff. all of us old enough to recall growing up on the reruns and whatnot also have to realize the movie exists to make money and connect with kids of today. they could have bridged the gap a bit better though. after transformers, theres no excuse for that much disconnect, PG rated or not.


sidenote: i will check it out just to see if they have the mammoth car in a race!
