if the gasket is the same type as the KA's, than you shouldn't have to worry about needing to replace it when removing the head.

is the ticking sound still there?? the ticking might just be the injectors. you sure it's coming from the valve cover??

I'm wondering if the ECU can "learn" that fast... that when you had less fuel pressure from the cracked hose, the ECU started dumping more fuel in when the O2 sensor readed way lean.... then restarting the car had the injectors injecting way too much fuel since the ECU had gone to some mode trying to dump fuel thinking it had less fuel pressure still. maybe after a couple of hours it reset?

i dunno.... if it's running find now with no odd noises I wouldn't worry too much.
