i had a similar problem a couple months back, except it just happened after 10 hrs of straight driving, not after touching anything. it would do the exact same thing. when i engage the clutch the rpm's would just drop all the way to 0 and stall. i ended up just not driving my car too much and keeping a "manual" idle by keeping my foot on the gas. after a week everything was fine... i have no idea what happened... it's a "self healing" car!!! haha.
