I assure you this "mod" works on 91-93 240's. Instead cutting the wire I hooked up a switch. Everything still works and the only thing you will notice is a check engine light (because the speed sensor isnt giving info to the ecu anymore). So whenever I want to check to see if anything is actually wrong with the car I just flip the switch and reset the ecu to clear the speed sensor code. And then check to see if anything else pops up.
I did this about 2 and half years ago and no problems. I have only tried it out once though, I don't like cruising over 100 on the street . . . just too many unknowns.
