I don't know if anyone else is following this but I find it to be quite entertaining. All the automakers coming out with supercars are battling it out on the Nürburgring (Nordschleife).
So here's what has happened so far:
Nissan pits the GTR against the Porsche 911 Turbo (997) during testing to beat its record time of 7:40. They squeeze out 7:38. (Note the Corvette C6 Z06 did it in 7:42.99).

Toyota (well...Lexus) decides it wants to join the party and unofficially laps a 7:24 in the LF-A test mule.

Nissan though, is not just testing the GTR, but alos the V-Spec version and it nets an unofficial time of 7:25.

So here is where the drama really starts. Chevy gives The Green Hell a try with the Corvette ZR-1 and reportedly gets a time "in the low 7:40s". Online shit talking ensues between both fanbases.

Chevy itself joins in on smack talk and says the GT-R won't be King of the 'Ring for long.

Nissan lets the time do the smack talking and officially laps The Ring in the GTR (non V-Spec) in 7:29.

Meanwhile Honda CEO Takeo Fukui says, "Hoooooooollllddd up Goshn. We can top that son!" And plans to have its next supercar bring in lower times than the GTR.

They go out and get a 7:37, they're back to the drawing board for now.

Porsche not happy that the GTR did away with their 997 plans to make revisions to the 911 Turbo to beat Nissan's time.

We haven't seen the last of them, after all they have the ability to run their engines at the ring virtually.

Soooo Chevy disappointed with its previous time doesn't give up, and laps the ring in 7:26.4 in the Corvette ZR-1.

Which brings us to today, where we await Nissan's response with an official lap time for the GTR V-Spec. Remember it has netted an unofficial time of 7:25 in testing. I'm pretty sure they're going to try to beat that and Toyota's time as well, who unofficially is wearing the crown with a time of 7:24.
