look for two BIG bolts on the bottom of your steering column. Removing those will drop the column enough for you to get the cluster out.

FYI, the faulty temp gauge is probably not related to the gauge itself. More likley the sensor needs to be replaced. Unfortunatly I can't remember for the life of me where that sensor is.
