I agree, but I take that 70s thing back a step further... They created the cheap aircooled thing back in WWII, when the general engine design that we all came to love from the beetle was implemented by Hitler to allow for cheap replacement (directly related to what we do now) on military aircraft. I am in school for aviation maintenence and one of the planes we have in the shop at school has a beetle engine on it, and all continental and lycoming engines are closely related in operation and aircooled-ness. I have individual parts off the engine, replaced and re-installed in the time it takes me to get stuff off my 240...
