new intake adapter and filter i got off of ebay for 11.95 shipped...anyway heres some pics...and some questions(im not sure if this goes in tech or chat)

if you look at the next picture, there is a hose that used to be attached to the old stock box that had the filter, im lost to as what this hose does, and what should i do with it? is it something to do with emissions, and do i need to block or make a filter for it?

and probably the greatest part it that it growles, once it gets to 4k rpm it really sounds mean. i have a vid of it, but no way of hosting it, anyone wanna do it for me? its not too big...
