Very common, with the nut on the lower side it sees more moisture and seizes to the stud. It's also at a slight angle when you hit it with a socket so it doesn't sit flush on the nut. I cut one off a car with a sawzall not long ago that was rounded off.
don_bagz - There's no need to 'check' yours. If the clutch works, it's not broken, it's not like it's a wear item that gets worse over time, it's either working or broken in half and you have no clutch.
