If its lighter and it does the job its not retarded. The Evo/STI/Z33 brembos are heavy as fuk compared to a Alum 30mm Z32 caliper. Yes the brembo is larger in every way compared to the z32 but do you really need that much braking power? You could of also simply ran the z33/g35 non brembo 2piston sliding caliper with some good pads and fluid and got similar results as the brembos you have with alot less bling factor, less un-sprung weight and better rim clearence.
