Controversy
On November 7th, 2008, Batman Mayor Hüseyin Kalkan began looking into legal possibilities toward suing Christopher Nolan, director of Batman Begins and The Dark Knight for naming infringement and "placing the blame for a number of unsolved murders and a high female suicide rate on the psychological impact that the film's success has had on the city's inhabitants." Mr. Kalkan is quoted as receiving the idea from foreign columnists who asked why he did not sue for money while his town struggled with economic trouble. It is most likely that he will fail and his town will continue to face economic hardship.
However, considering the movies are based on a comic book character who first appeared 16 years before the town was established, the lawsuit being successful is highly unlikely.

i would also point to the origin of the name
our batman = man who dresses like a bat
their batman = Batı Raman Mountains in their language
there are tons of words that are similar in two different languages but have totally unrelated meanings and origins
like the town of obama in japan. instead of suing, they had a big party when he won.
maybe the residents of batman should build a batman statue and have a big party and attract hella tourists to a batman party instead of suing nolan.
