so i went ahead and got another thermo from a different auto parts store, and instead of getting 50/50 for $8, i got some distilled water instead.
i put it in, drive it around, doesn't over heat.
im like cool, i pull into the garage and let it cool.
after a hour or so, i top it off and run it without the rad cap and with the bleeder loose.. take it for a drive, overheats again! wtf? im like fuck it, i pop the rad cap out and it was steaming, then i start the car, then a few seconds later it starts spewing water and coolant, so i throw the rad cap back on. drove it home to get some more water, but never overheated after.. i went around town, drove on the highway, and even went through a busy drive-thru and its fine. odd.
