REVIEW: GP Sports SpecD Exas for S13 | (pics)

I _finally_ recieved my Spec D today, and as far as I know, nobody has ever done a review on it. I figured i'd fill everybody in on this awesome exhaust.

For those that dont know, the Spec D is the cheapo $400 version of GP Sports N1 style muffler. This is a cat-back unit and the muffler is all stainless with non-stainless metal piping (its coated black to detour rust.)

Heres a before video.
also, heres a before pic, from down below:

a special thanks goes out to my buddy mike for pointing out the dangers of a rusted muffler

Heres the box I recieved it in:

as you can see, it's a 2 piece set that came with a silencer, metallic gasket, and hardware.

I was superbly impressed with the overall quality of the unit, as you can see here:

heres a compairason to the stock assy:

the pic doesnt do it justice, but the piping on the Spec D is amazingly wider than stock. sure its kewl, but this is an assy designed for a turbo setup, ill deal with the torque loss untill i get my motor :crying:

during the install, everything fell into place perfectly. the only issue I ran into was bolting the cat to the pipe. the pipe is so thick that its very hard to get a damn wrench on it to tighten the nuts. Mike and I ended up making a D-Shaped washer to allow proper space for us to finish the job.

with the job done, heres what she looks like, from below:

and to everybody else:

On first impressions, this exas is LOUD!!!!! It's probably because i have a dummy cat, though.

Heres an after video, for a taste. Just an FYI, too, that the exas changes sound when it heats up, it get a lot more mellow and kewler sounding.

All in all, I think this exas is great, and I recement it to anyone seeking an effective N1 style muffler for a turbo application. all though, my recemendation only goes as far as fit and finish, as I cannot dictate how much power it generates because I dont have turbo. :P

cheers!
