the way i think of it you are opening or closing a passageway and going by righty tighty lefty loosy you are closing the passageway off ie lowering the idle
cliff notes: loosen it by going counter clockwise to increase idle
and if im completely wrong well you would be able to easily tell as you were moving the screw to figure out which way to go
