I'm not 100% sure, it's something that guys in the RX-7 world do. I know they remove the end oil seals from each end and they welded the line holes shut as well as RTV filled the ports. I'm sure if I had looked around I could have done it myself but I lived with the guy so I had him do it. Also, the box is packed with medium weight grease as well and will need re-lubrication every so often.
