Pillowball mounts or replace stock mounts?

I really don't know much about pillowball mounts vs. stock mounts. All i know is that pillowball mounts replace the stock mounts with a solid aluminum unit rather than having a stock rubber(?) unit. I plan on getting a strut and spring combo and was wondering if you can get pillowball mounts to work with them. Is this possible? Or can i replace the normal stock mount with a firmer rubber one? I would rather have a hard rubber mount than a solid pillowball mount if this is possible due to the fact that I won't be taking it to the track very often. Where can you get this or do you just replace some bushings? Thanks.
