I never had any problems with them, they're great. Im running a set on my Miatae. Prior to that I've run Axxis metallics, which are also good for the dollar. I see the HPS as a (small) step above the axxis.
Maybe you're just too heavy on your brakes. If thats the case, either you need to change OR you need to upgrade. You chose. Brakes should tailor your driving style.
