A shifter kit that isn't made well can mess with the synchros. Many people use the B&M short shifter, it's pricey but made very well. If you don't want/need your shift throw to be that short there is the NISMO solid shifter and the C's short shifter, both of those offer around 25%-35% shorter shift throw while eliminating the shifter slop that is common with the stock shifter. There are other companies, but in my opinion the above are 3 of the best.
Edit: It's best to avoid ebay brands whenever possible. In general (not always), they tend to be cheaply made, not too reliable, and lack the performance characteristics of the more established brands like B&M. In short, ebay brands, with any part not just a shifter is hit-or-miss.
