my friend has a 2002 ser specV and i got a 1995 240sx. the specV and 240 are a bit similar in terms of power. i think his is rated base 180hp/180tq. the 240s base is supposedly around 150s. they perform similarly in a straight line, i guess the difference in hp is made up by the 240s FR setup. i've driven his car and its pretty fun to drive for a fwd. the shifter is pretty annoying though. even if you double clutch or rev match or whatever... going up and down the gears u have to slam it into place. it feels very imprecise and is prone to mis-shifting. the 240 is much smoother. its got pretty good handling, again considering its fwd. i'm not really a great fwd driver so i can't really say how it is on corners. my friend can whip it around turns alright, but i wasn't too impressed. naturally it doesn't have that great feeling going around corners u get in a 240 (yay FR)
other minor things... i think the rear looks ugly, but the front looks nice. i prefer coupes so i was turned off by the 4 door-ness. the engine sound is bizarre. it sounds like a weird hollow howl, similar to the 350z sound if you ever heard one go screaming past. i like the sound of the ka better. for some reason he dents his rims alot... just going over bumps in the road. he's never curbed it and he takes the bumps really slow. anyone else have this problem? oh well. all in all its a decent car. its like a sporty grocery getter or a college kid car. it's not a pure sports car, but neither is the 240. compared to the 240, it trades a bit of sport for a bit of comfort and practicality.
personally i wouldn't get one simply because i love the feel of rear wheel drive. but that's just me.
hmm... i would take this over any of those other cars b/c... mazda = poor reliability compared to nissan, acura = high theft rates/higher insurance, definitely don't want a neon :P . base lancer (non evo) is a joke of a car. i would consider the prelude or the si.
