when i bought my car the previous owner decided to take the button, spring, and gear that it locks the e brake in position.
i got the spring and button, but for some reason the gear keeps coming loose inside the e brake. i noticed there is slack in the actual handle and gives the gear enough room to loosen and come out.

i have tried using huge pliers to squeeze it together and a hammer to hit it in closer ,but i have no luck.
should i replace just replace the whole handle?
