Having the heater core selector switch all the way to the hot position will not assure the heater core will be drained. All that selector switch does is open or close the Coolair/Hotair Proportioning Flap. Actually having the fan on the off position will help heat the engine quicker and properly assure the coolent gets flushed out of the core because the core wont cool down as quick and the thermostat will stay open longer.
