I agree with this.

You can completely gut the doors and hatch (use latches), replace the windows with lexan, get lightweight seats, gut the wiring harness, Buy Z32 aluminum brakes, etc.

Basically just remove everything possible that you don't need in the interior and engine bay, and buy lightweight everything else.

Remember, when it comes to weight reduction, count the ounces to get the pounds.
