the big benefit of the compressor housing being the source for wastegate signal is that there is no vacuum signal, there is no pressure drop across the intercooler, and no need for a check valve. so just drill and tap the comp hsg.
I always wondered why I've seen turbos with a fitting on them for this.... that makes sense.
