I used to have a pep boys wheel cover, was just this black ribbed stuff. It was cool that it was grippy and didn't get hot in the sun, but it was pretty ugly. I didn't realize how nice the stock steering wheel was until I took the cover off last spring. Mine's cracked as well, but still, it's so much nicer - even just the way it feels.
BlueSix, in the end, it's your personal ride, so do what you want with it. You def. don't have the ricer mentality, at any rate, if you were able to take that much criticism and be objective about it. It's all good.
