Smile Small-form PCs

So I'm on the market for a new PC (current one is from 2005 and just overheated itself to death), and I'm interested in a small form factor sized towers since my room is small and would like to get a smaller desk. Is this do-able for someone that does casual computing? All I personally want is:

- core i7
- at least 4gb RAM
- 64gb or bigger SSD
- a decent GPU for HD viewing

Also, do small-form PC's run hotter because of the less internal space? Oh yeah, and I'm tryin to keep costs at around the 500-600 range since I'd like to use the leftover money to buy a nice monitor as well.
