yep dvd rw drives are like $20. i got a samsung bdr player only (of course with dvd rw, cd rw, etc) for $70. i will eventually get a bdr rw.
memory i was going to say corsair or kingston, but a lot of ppl use gskill ripjaws. i use/like corsair myself, but people say kingston are the best as far as compatible and reliability go, so maybe ill try the kingston hyper x one day.
