I loved our 3 mile races because it would be in a regional park, we'd go up hills and down hills, through mud, etc. It's a great way to feel the nature around you.

Although, it's a lot easier to run with a team or people. I feel like I have no time for running anymore, but to be honest I do. Everyone does. Wake up at 5AM and go run for an hour.

It takes 2 weeks for your body to get used to running. It's all in your head. My first day running in regular Saucony tennis shoes, I ran 6 miles without stopping because I kept telling myself I wanted to keep up with everyone and not embarrass myself.
Thats how it is with the military. Group runs are better than running by yourself. And that whole mentality thing? I agree alot.
