yeah, there are water outlets on the back of the engine and they should go into and out of the firewall on the pass. side. thing is, the stock hoses for the ka or the sr won't work so if you live someplace sunny its easier just to recirculate it.
so check that, check that they are flowing the right way, and if that isn't working it may need a new heater core.
