i would go with a paging alarm system. i dont know, maybe thats just me. i, like you, have also been thinking about getting an alarm system for a long time. i say go with dei products (they make all the commercial brand names, clifford, python, viper, etc), compustar, or autopage. there are a lot of underground alarm systems out there that are really good also. i haven't researched them, but also, if you have or plan to go turbo in the future and want to get a turbo timer, you will need to do some rewiring because the alarm wont arm until after the car is shut off. im not sure how hard that is, but i think its a big pita. pricing for paging alarms go from $200 on ebay to 500 for a pretty good one, to up to $1000 for everything!
