Your priorities and desires do change over the years. I have a coworker who is 45, almost all his life he had no interest in kids or even getting married. Didn't plan on ever getting married. Then he met the person that was right for him, got married, and at about age 40, had a kid. Now he talks about his kid all the time, is den leader for his son's Cub Scouts, etc.
I was never to interested in having kids. My brother and sister are 13 and 15 years younger than me, I grew up with babies in the house and had no interest in repeating that. But now I have a 4 year old and a 6 month old, and your attitude really changes when they are *your* kids. Can the be annoying? Definitely. Do I sometimes want to punch a wall? Sure. But when they smile at you, you forget all that bs.
