The do quiet it down, but they do not work like a muffler. Up close just as loud, but they obviously don't 'project' the sound like a typical muffler.

DING DING> This is the only way to install seats IMO. With so many varianences in brackets and setas, it just works best to keep it loose, and then apply a final torque.
