As far as heat shields go...
An aftermarket header is a different beast. Its welded steel tubes vs cast iron (which is the stock one) . It does have different heat transfer properties by shear difference in design. I would say a heatshield would benefit you. Remember the factory mounts come with a heatshield to guard against possible heat from the stock down pipes.
That is why I tell people to retain their factory heatshield and use it. I am in the process of starting up a heatshield run. When I do it the cost of the mount will go up $10 though I do not think that is to much more to ask. LOL
