The tps could be off too, I would check the ecu for codes. Even if u don't see any on the dash it could mean it wasn't wired in. Check the tps voltage, check the timing, compression test. Did he change the fuel pump or is it still a stock KA? hope he did if not he might have been boosting high on a stock pump and run the motor lean killing the rings on the pistons.

Me n my friend checked the ecu codes on 2 ecu one didn say one said 3 n 4 34 knock sensor? Tried replacing it n nothing also fuel pump is a walbaro
