I bought a zenki S14 a couple of months ago with a swapped blacktop SR (WC ecu, early model zenki S14). The car started life as an auto, but the owner had a 5sp swap done to it. I bought the car with the instrument cluster not working (previous owner said it used to work), as well as the wipers and gas gauge, but the car ran fine (hard starts in the morning though). Also the previous owner had installed some ghetto push button start that's basically acting as a switch from the battery direct to the starter.

After some delooming, It looks like the power wire to the wiper amp fried (still not sure why...), and the wire (light green) burned all the way (i'm assuming) through the interior harness to the trigger. I haven't deloomed it to the trigger yet, but so far that's where the trail of melted wire is leading me.

Questions I have:
1.) What would cause the wire to fry in the first place other than obviously it being wired wrong? I know when wiring up an SR you have to replace the SR wiper amp plug with the KA one, but the wiring looks fine (F3 plug pinned correctly), and I have to assume they were smart enough to match up colors on the amp plug (although it was burned bad). Also wouldn't a fuse blow before the wire catching fire?

2.) All of my searches led me to the repinning of dash plug F3, and the little white plug that's pointed out in the FR guide.

I checked the F3 plug and everything seems to be repinned in the right order, so I go to check the other little white plug.

After hours of staring at the engine harness AND main/dash harness, the little white plug is no where to be found. I did find taped off, unpinned, wires on the engine harness which match up in color to the FR wire guide. However the real problem I'm having is locating the male connecting plug that's supposed to be on the main/dash harness.

I've looked everywhere and it doesn't seem to exist, or I'm not looking in the right spots. I feel like this is the source of my problems with my dash not working, as this plug supposedly has the signal for speedometer, tach, and water temp. Can anyone point me in the right direction? There aren't many S14 to S14 swap threads, but the ones I did find said to only repin the F3 plug. Can anyone confirm/deny this?

3.) The searches for this missing dash plug led me to this thread: http://zilvia.net/f/engine-tech/1911...when-cold.html

It seems I wasn't the only one having the exact same starting issues, where if it was cold or the car had been sitting for a while it would take forever to start (cranked fine). However once it was started the car ran perfectly fine, boosted fine all the way to redline. If you were to turn it off and restart it would fire up no problems. Again the problem leads me back to the same missing plug (orange wire for start signal), but damnit I swear it doesn't exist on my car.

Sorry for the long thread guys, but I'm hoping since there are multiple issues here someone else can benefit from them once I get this all figured out. Thanks for everyone's help. Here are some reference links I've been using to help me with the wiring:

i see you found one of my threads lolol....cool.....forget to say one more thing, because my car was a AUTO convert to 5spd i was missing that orange start wire so i grabbed the start signal wire straight from the key solenoid. Use a voltmeter to figure out which wire to tap to because i forgot. its been so long ever since i wrote up that thread i don't have a stock ecu anymore i have a AEM series 2 system hehehe

Talk about waking up a old thread lol....just in case someone finds this hopefully it helps them out.
