The Altima coupe is just a cheap way to leverage an existing platform to get more market share. It's not a bad car, I think it's attractive, but it isn't a sports car, isn't trying to be, and won't ever become one.
I'm not sure if I see Nissan entering this segment at all, and I'm OK with that. They're doing other things very well right now. It's not a big market in the first place, and more than 1-2 players means that someone is going to have an unprofitable mess on their hands.
I think that Nissan should sell something Evo-esque though, given all their background and engineering sunk costs with AWD systems and forced induction. The current Sentra platform is a bad joke, but they could unfuck the next one and trickle down a little GTR technology to make it something worth owning.
