I thought this too, but i found something out the other day.
The calipers have a press in threaded fitting that the bolt threads into. On r33 and r34 calipers, its a 14mm threaded insert, and on r32 its a 12mm insert. Instead of modifying or replacing the knuckles, there is a company (ill find it in history somewhere) that sells the press-in insert for 12mm.
You replace that, and itll bolt up as if an r32 caliper. However, there are other benefits to s14 knuckles as well
