I am sure that the heat shield would work for the coupler without issue, in my situation having the aluminum piece welded to my manifold was cheaper and failproof.
With that considered though the first 1 lasted almost 2 years and the second one thesame time. However at the cost of them i figured.eliminate a failure and save money.
